Custom Art on Classic Nike Shoes

I thought this was pretty cool. The artist uses a Dremel to etch his drawings onto classic Nikes.

Sergej Vutuc Photography

Sergej Vutuc
is a German photographer who publishes photographs connected to street culture and skateboarding. While searching through his galleries I expected to see some sort of description of the how and why he shot them and the equipment used. However, on his about page he mentions that his goal is not to add description, rather to allow us as the viewer to build that story with our own eyes.

Digitally capture what you draw!

WACOM INKLING

Wouldn´t it be great if your ideas began as sketches on paper, and automatically became vector graphics?.Inkling is a Wacom pen that has a small receiver device that you attach to any paper or sketchbook, together they capture every stroke of your work of art. You can then convert your design to digital via USB, it then becomes a vector drawing! you can now edit your drawing in any image editing software, how awesome is that? Amy Winehouse x Terry Richardson Tribute

I first heard of Terry Richardson back during Obama’s run for presidency in ’07-’08. I love it when he allows the subject to be free to express themselves. Here are a few candid shots he took of Amy Winehouse before she passed.

Quick word about Amy: I first heard of Amy’s death on Twitter; I’ve never met her but I was a huge fan and her music meant a lot to me. I have to admit, I wasn’t surprised when I heard she died; but I couldn’t help but think of the pain she must have been feeling inside all these years. Unfortunately, there are too many people in the world that are struggling with issues that we’ll never know of (until it’s too late) – people like Amy who wrestle with trying to sort them out and conquer demons before they conquer the individual.

New work

Another project I just wrapped-up. I’m actually pretty excited about this one, I’m a big basketball fan and desiging identity for a new franchise in a new league is truly a dream come true. ABA basketball is back, and I’m happy to play a role, even if it’s just a small role.

Genuine and authentic leadership will always defeat the selfish

This is an old blog post from one of my favorite blogs.

As a prelude let me say this: I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about why I do what I do on a routine basis. You know what I mean? Waking up in the morning and heading to work has been pretty tough the lat few months! To be honest, I feel like I’ve become a creature of habit… and at the end of a “productive” day at work, I feel I wasted an entire day. I routinely feel that I could be contributing more. These days that’s exactly what I’m in search of…contributing more, to society at large, more to make a larger, lasting impression on people’s lives.

Sorry to rant, but here’s what I meant to post:

It’s Ok To Steal…

Austin Kleon wants you to know that all artists steal.

As much as creatives don’t want to admit it, WE ALL STEAL. The thing that separates the good ones from bad ones is that the good ones steal from many places to create new combinations, while the bad ones steal from only a few places and their work just looks jacked. Either way stealing is just one of 9 points of contention that writer Austin Kleon talks about on his blog. So head on over, you might learn a thing or two about being creative.
